Even though GTA VI is not out yet, it has already become the center of some of the most persistent rumors in gaming history. As Rockstar continues to delay the event, fans are watching every detail closely, hoping to uncover the truth behind the next big announcement.

A Release Date That Keeps Moving

At first, GTA VI was expected to launch in autumn 2025. However, Rockstar Games later pushed the release to May 26, 2026. Then, on November 6, another twist arrived: the studio officially announced a new date — November 19, 2026.

According to Rockstar, this additional delay aims to ensure the level of polish players “expect and deserve,” especially to avoid a Cyberpunk‑style disaster. Nevertheless, many fans wonder whether they can truly trust this explanation.

A Decade of Waiting That Fuels Every Theory

Since GTA V, released in 2013, sold more than 200 million copies, expectations for GTA VI are enormous. After more than ten years of waiting, every tiny detail becomes a potential clue.

In 2022, a massive leak revealed early development notes and images, but this only increased curiosity. The first official trailer, released in December 2023, exploded online with more than 270 million views. It showcased explosions, heavy weapons, alligators, and a Bonnie‑and‑Clyde‑style duo — along with a vague “2025” release window.

The second trailer, uploaded in May, finally revealed a precise date: May 26, 2026. Yet fans refused to be fooled again. Some began analyzing every frame, including a watch showing “11:08,” which many interpreted as November 8, 2025, the supposed date of the next trailer. This theory grew stronger when Take‑Two’s financial calendar aligned with the same period.

While forums and social media continue to speculate, Rockstar remains completely silent as players wait for a third trailer — ideally one showing real gameplay.

Rumors Beyond the Release Date

Speculation doesn’t stop at the calendar. Early this year, a fake news story even claimed that the French president had banned the game in France.

However, the biggest debate concerns the price. According to rumors, GTA VI could cost between 100 and 120 euros, an unprecedented price for a AAA game. This would follow the trend set by Nintendo, which raised the price of Mario Kart World to 90 euros, and could also reflect the game’s massive expected lifespan.

Fans also believe the development budget may exceed one billion dollars, which would make GTA VI the most expensive cultural product ever created. Rockstar has not confirmed this figure.

Strategic Delays and Industry Impact

Another theory circulating online suggests that Take‑Two intentionally delayed GTA VI to avoid overshadowing its other franchises. Additionally, releasing the game in a quieter window would guarantee a historic launch without competition.

After all, no publisher wants to release a game near the most anticipated title of the decade.

Still, confidence remains low. New leaks appeared in early December, and the latest PS5 trailer showcasing upcoming 2026 games did not include GTA VI. This absence immediately reignited fears of yet another delay — possibly to 2027.

As CJ famously said in San Andreas: “Here we go again.”
