With the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI this autumn, Rockstar Games fans are eager to discover the new online content creation features. According to reports from insiders shared by Digiday, Rockstar is currently in talks with numerous creators who have worked on popular titles like Fortnite, Roblox, and even the online mode of GTA V. Rockstar is particularly attracted to the sandbox nature of these games. Over the years, Fortnite has evolved, with new game modes emerging almost every week thanks to the community. One might forget that Fortnite is primarily a battle royale game. However, it is clear that the model proposed for GTA 6 will differ from what we know from Fortnite, Roblox, or even Minecraft.

GTA 6 is expected to go beyond GTA 5 with its RP options and server hosting systems like FiveM. According to Chris Hopper, an expert at Loaded, a marketing consulting firm: “The foundations of GTA RP have always been based on player interaction.”

The Importance of Roleplay in GTA V

The creative mode of Fortnite aims to compete with ROBLOX, and GTA 6 is expected to incorporate similar elements by collaborating with professional creators.

A Golden Opportunity for Small Studios

The Digiday article explains that Rockstar’s call to creators will allow the studio to modify the environment and enable players to bring their own intellectual property and potentially their brand. This partnership would grant them a sponsorship role in the game.

These creations will make the future GTA Online mode more appealing by offering more ways to play. This kind of collaboration could benefit both Rockstar, by increasing the number of players, and the participants in the program, who would gain fame and profitability in the field. For example, FiveM, mentioned earlier, offers its hosting services in exchange for a subscription, which remunerates the team of creators working on it. Others have gained recognition through this type of collaboration. This is the case of JOGO, a development studio responsible for the Bed Wars and Super Red Vs Blue modes in Fortnite.
