GTA (1997) Cheat Codes — PC & PlayStation
Looking for GTA 1 cheats? The original top-down Grand Theft Auto (1997) does not use button combos: you type a code word as your player name on the name entry screen, and a revving engine sound confirms it. The PC and PlayStation versions use different words, so both are listed below: every chapter and city, infinite lives, all weapons, no police, maximum points and the PC debug mode.

Frequently asked questions
How do you enter cheats in GTA 1?
Type the code as your player name on the name entry screen when you start a game. On PC, press Delete to clear the default name first. A revving engine sound confirms that the cheat worked.
What is the ITSGALLUS code?
ITSGALLUS is the PC code that unlocks all six chapters, and with them every city. NINEINAROW and SUPER WELL do the same thing. On PlayStation, use CAPRICE or TURF for all cities.
Are GTA 1 cheats the same on PC and PlayStation?
No. The two versions use different code words. For example, no police is IAMTHELAW on PC but CHUFF on PlayStation, and all weapons with armor is SUCKMYROCKET on PC but PECKINPAH on PlayStation.
What does the PORKCHARSUI debug cheat do?
On PC, it turns on debug keys: L and K zoom the aerial camera, the numpad pans it, Numpad * gives all weapons with full ammo, C shows your status and coordinates, D saves a screenshot and F12 restarts the current chapter.
What does IAMGARYPENN do?
On PC, it switches some phone mission dialogue to uncensored wording. IAMNOTGARYPENN switches it back. Bleeped words in cutscenes are not changed.
Do cheats disable scoring in GTA 1?
There is no documented flag that blocks your score for using cheats, but point-boosting codes inflate it, so a cheat-assisted total is not comparable to a legitimate run.
