This page tracks all the GTA 6 missions we know about, from the official story setup to the jobs shown in the August Extended Look. Rockstar has not published a mission list or official mission names, so this page will become a full list of walkthroughs from November 19. Until then, here is what has actually been confirmed.

The GTA 6 story setup

Rockstar’s official synopsis says Jason and Lucia have always known the odds are stacked against them. When an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida, and they have to rely on each other to survive.

GTA 6 missions shown so far

The August 27 Extended Look showed several story sequences. Rockstar gave no mission names, so these descriptions come from Game Informer and other outlets that covered the footage:

  1. The tower block pickup. Jason and Lucia collect goods from a dealer for Boobie Ike. Someone tips off the police and a big shootout follows. Rob Nelson told IGN there are multiple routes out of the building. Outlets call it the opening of the video, but Rockstar has not said it is the game’s first mission.   2. The rooftop meeting. The pair meet Brian Heder and his wife Lori at a rooftop bar about a new job. Game Informer describes Brian as their boss and main mission giver.
  3. The bank getaway for Raul Bautista. Lucia drives while Jason fights off the police and helicopters, then they swap cars and burn the first one. Nelson said the sequence starts on rails before handing the player a free getaway.
  4. The Megamundo security job. Jason and Lucia guard a wealthy businessman at the opening of Megamundo’s first US headquarters when armed men storm the tower, and the pair fight on separate floors.
  5. Smaller crimes. Store robberies with one partner driving, car thefts, and a livestreamer’s stunt that turns into a police chase.

How GTA 6 missions work

  • Two protagonists: you can switch between Jason and Lucia during missions, with the other one driving or shooting. If either is overwhelmed by the police, it is game over, according to Game Informer.
  • Robberies: you can split up or work together and choose a quiet or loud approach, which changes the police response. Bank robberies pay out marked bills that must go to a fence first, the New York Times reported. Read our robbery and heist system guide.
  • Police: crimes are only reported if someone sees them or an alarm goes off, Nelson told IGN. Our GTA 6 police system page has more.
  • Choices: choices large and small can shape the story. The romance between Jason and Lucia is optional, and the strength of their relationship can change how parts of the story play out. See our relationship system explainer.
  • Freedom: Nelson said the team opened missions up where possible while keeping key story beats, and that clues found while exploring can lead to new jobs.

How long is the GTA 6 story?

The only figure from Rockstar is about 80 hours. Rob Nelson told the New York Times that his own playthrough, finished in February, took about that long and covered the main story plus optional goals with narrative consequences. It is one developer’s run, not an official average.

Official footage and previews mention fishing, kayaking, base jumping, scuba diving, jet skiing, airboating, backyard wrestling, dirt-bike, street and stock-car racing, basketball, pool, mini golf, a gun range, a gym and a zoo. Mission list and walkthroughs from launch

From November 19, this page will list every GTA 6 story mission in order, each with a walkthrough covering objectives, fail conditions and rewards, the same way we cover the missions of earlier games such as GTA 5. Until then, beware of mission lists circulating online: a list of 179 main missions comes from a 2025 leak, not from Rockstar.
