GTA 5 Hidden Packages work differently from earlier games in the series: there are only 15, and they appear as briefcases full of cash instead of pickups that unlock weapons. Eleven of the GTA 5 Hidden Packages lie in the ocean, mostly around shipwrecks, and four are hidden at the Altruist Camp.
Key facts
- Total in GTA 5: 15 briefcases
- Ocean briefcases: 11, holding between $7,000 and $25,000 each
- Altruist Camp briefcases: 4, holding $25,000 each
- Camp access: after finishing the Altruist Cult Shootout with Trevor
- Equipment: most ocean briefcases are deep enough to need a Scuba Suit
Where to look
The 11 ocean briefcases are mostly near shipwrecks on the sea floor, so bring a Scuba Suit to stay under safely. The other four are in the Altruist Camp and only become available once the Altruist Cult Shootout is done with Trevor, and each pays $25,000. This guide covers where the groups are rather than exact coordinates; use the GTA 5 map to plan your dives.
How GTA 5 differs from earlier games
In the other games that have them, there are normally 100 hidden packages. They pay $1,000 each in GTA III and $100 each in the later games, with special rewards at every tenth package and a large payout at the end, and collecting all of them is part of 100% completion in each of those games. GTA 5 trades that for 15 briefcases worth far more individually.
| Game | Packages | Final reward |
|---|---|---|
| GTA III | 100 | Rocket Launcher and $1,000,000 |
| GTA Vice City | 100 | $100,000 on top of $100 per package, plus a Hunter helicopter |
| GTA Advance | 100 | $1,000,000 |
| GTA Liberty City Stories | 100 | $50,000 |
| GTA 5 | 15 | $7,000 to $25,000 per briefcase |
