Vapid Speedo Custom weapons and armor
The driver operates the weapons. Options are two front-facing machine guns, a remote turret that looks like a Browning M2HB, or a remote turret that resembles a GAU-17/A gatling gun. The van can also take light, riot and heavy armor plating.
Armor works mostly on the windows. Light Armor Plating and Reinforced Riot Armor are mainly cosmetic, with bars around the windows and reinforced bumpers. Heavy Armor Plating narrows the window openings, but the side plates are not solid. In free roam one explosive still destroys the van. During a Sell Goods mission with the 100% Armor upgrade, it can take six RPGs or homing missiles, and a seventh destroys it. Any armor plating removes throwable weapons for the occupants.
How the Speedo Custom drives
It beats the regular Speedo with a slightly higher top speed and acceleration, plus better braking and handling. Traction is poor from a standstill, and the light body cannot shove other cars easily, even with the Heavy Armor Plating wedge. It runs a high-torque V8 diesel with a 5-speed gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
Personal vehicle variant prices
The personal vehicle Speedo Custom is awarded for completing Tier 4 of the Weapons Expert Challenge in Career Progress. It looks and handles the same. Some of its upgrade prices:
