The GTA Online Drag Races are a series of Land Races added with The Chop Shop update on January 25, 2024, aimed at LS Car Meet members. There are seven point-to-point races for one to four players, and you have to shift gears by hand while dodging traffic.

How GTA Online drag races play
A short cinematic shows the cars rolling to the start line, then you warm the tyres with a burnout. Keep the revs inside the blue zone on the speedometer, which shrinks over time. Stay in it for most of the burnout and you earn a Perfect Burnout, which gives more traction off the line.
The gearbox is manual. Each gear has a blue zone for the ideal shift and a red zone for over-revving. Shift in the blue zone for a Perfect Shift message and a small speed boost; shift too soon or too late and you get a Too Early or Too Late warning.
Nitrous becomes available at a point that depends on the race. Toggle it on and off, watch the remaining amount beside the health and armour bars, and use it to pass a rival or steal the finish. Traffic is mostly unscripted, but some scenes, such as a bus crossing a junction or a Fire Truck answering a call, act as obstacles.
Host options and round types
The host picks the vehicle class (Tuner, Muscle or Sports), turns custom vehicles on or off, and sets contact, time of day, weather, traffic and density. Catchup and Slipstream are available too. The host also chooses how many rounds are run and the Round Type:
- First to Win: the race repeats until someone wins the chosen number of rounds.
- Highest Points: points are awarded by finishing order, and the top total wins.
- Fastest Time: the best single time across all rounds wins.
Which vehicles can you use?
Only selected vehicles are allowed: all Tuners, plus a list of Muscle cars (Beater Dukes, Burger Shot Stallion, Dominator ASP, Gauntlet Classic Custom, Gauntlet Hellfire, Phoenix, Pißwasser Dominator, Redwood Gauntlet, Ruiner and Ruiner ZZ-8) and Sports cars such as the 10F and Coquette D10.

During Drag Races Week these gave double GTA$ and RP. The weekly challenge was to win 2 Drag or Drift Races, which also unlocked the Bright Manor Racing Suit. Los Santos Car Meet Takeover and Membership were 50% off that week.
