In Europe and the UK, that means the game unlocks at local midnight. In the US, the listing shows a single time that matches midnight on the East Coast. If the whole country follows that listing, players on the West Coast would get in at 9 PM Pacific on November 18. What about the GTA 6 release time on Xbox?
The Xbox Store pages for the US and the UK list November 19, 2026, with no time. They also confirm the game is optimized for Xbox Series X|S and available in 13 languages.

Can you play GTA 6 early with the pre-load?
No. Pre-loading lets you download the game a week early, but it stays locked until the release time. On PlayStation, both the Standard and the Ultimate Edition list a 7-day pre-load, which matches the November 12 date Rockstar announced.
Boxed copies work the same way. The box contains a download code rather than a disc, so you redeem it, download the game and wait for the unlock. How big is the GTA 6 download?
Nobody outside Rockstar knows yet. We checked the PlayStation Store in the US, the UK and Germany, and the Xbox Store in the US and the UK, and none of them shows a file size.
Plenty of numbers are circulating anyway. GamesRadar estimated at least 120 to 130 GB, while Insider Gaming said 200 to 300 GB was possible. Insider Gaming also called a viral 600 GB image “likely fake”. None of these figures is official, so free up as much space as you can and wait for the store listing before buying a new drive.
Beware of fake GTA 6 downloads
With the release so close, fake copies are already circulating. TechRadar reported a so-called GTA VI ISO on torrent sites that weighed 113 GB but was almost entirely empty data with malware attached.
The rule is simple. GTA 6 is only available through the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store or a boxed code from a real retailer, and it only runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Any “early download”, “PC version” or “unlocked copy” before November 19 is a scam.
