GTA Online Buried Stashes are a daily Cayo Perico collectible that you hunt with a Metal Detector. They were added during Cayo Perico Series Week on August 11, 2022, as part of the continuation of The Criminal Enterprises, and each stash pays $25,000 and 1,000 RP.

How to get the Metal Detector
The search starts on the mainland. A skeleton appears at one of ten random spots along the south coast of Los Santos, and its blue dot is visible to everyone in the session when they are close.
- Find the skeleton and pick up the Metal Detector lying next to it.
- Inspect the treasure map of Cayo Perico the skeleton is holding.
- Take the Metal Detector to Cayo Perico and use it to find the daily stashes.
If nobody collects it within 10 real-time minutes (4 hours in-game), the skeleton and detector despawn and return later, cycling with the Drunk Guard and Drug Vehicle events. Several players can take a detector from the same skeleton. Once you already own one, searching another skeleton pays $5,000 to $10,000 in cash and gives you another look at the map.

How to dig up a Buried Stash
Two search zones appear each day on Cayo Perico as wide, translucent white circles on the map. Inside a zone, hold the aim button to use the detector. The device is only usable in these areas, and the game tells you that you have no weapons elsewhere on the island.
- Enter a marked circle and hold the aim button to switch on the Metal Detector.
- Follow the signal. The bars rise, the lights flash faster and the beeping speeds up as you get closer.
- When the sound turns continuous, you are on top of it and the stash is marked on the map with a chest icon. Players holding a detector also see a mound of pale sand.
- Press the prompt to dig. A short cutscene plays and you pocket the contents of an ammunition box.
Every player on the scoping mission can dig their own stash, as long as they have unlocked the event by collecting a detector. Players without one cannot even see the mound. Your daily count appears in the Interaction Menu inventory after the first stash.
