How to get the Minivan Custom
Buy the regular Minivan for $30,000, then upgrade it at Benny’s for $330,000. The Custom cannot be bought from websites. It follows the same upgrade route as the Sabre Turbo and the Declasse Tornado, the other classics from this update.
Minivan Custom design
The Custom stays close to the stock van, with the same front and rear. The main body change is sliding rear doors in place of the standard hinged ones, the same arrangement as the Moonbeam, which moves the door handles to the front of each door. Underneath are a paintable frame, a visible driveshaft, dual exhaust pipes and hydraulic bars.
Most badges give way to liveries, leaving the “24v” badge on the grille and the Vapid badges front and rear. Paint is simpler: one body color plus interior and dial colors, with custom lowrider wheels and white-wall tires. The standard van has rear-hinged side doors, which is unusual for an American minivan of its era, and it appears to be based mainly on the 2001-2007 Dodge Caravan.
Minivan Custom performance
In stock form the Custom performs a little better than the regular van. Acceleration has small improvements, top speed is slightly higher and the weight looks lower. The low ride height makes it catch on curbs, but cambered wheels improve the turning radius and help with that. Braking is unchanged.
It keeps a V8 (with double-barrel carburetors), a 4-speed gearbox and a 60-40 front-to-rear AWD layout.
