GTA 5 Bigfoot is the Sasquatch, an ape-like creature that some people believe lives in the forests of San Andreas. The game plays with that rumour in three ways: a quick sighting in a mission, a full side mission for Franklin and a late-game peyote transformation.
Key facts
- Also called: Sasquatch, or Bigfoot Beast in subtitles
- Said to live in: the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness
- Easter egg: seen in the lower right corner of the thermal scope during Predator
- Side mission: The Last One, Franklin only, unlocked by 100% completion
- Gold medals: Wounded, Hunter and Mr Green
- Reward for the later peyote hunt: golden Peyote plants, enhanced version only
Where the Bigfoot legend comes from
The myth started in GTA San Andreas. Rumours of a creature in Back o Beyond appeared within four days of that game’s release, but Rockstar confirmed it did not exist. Players who searched the woods got hungry, and the stomach-rumble sound was mistaken for a Bigfoot roar. GTA 5 Bigfoot is the developers’ answer to that old rumour.
The Predator sighting
During Predator, Michael hunts the O’Neil Brothers in the woods of Cassidy Creek with a rifle fitted with a thermal scope. Look at the lower right corner and Sasquatch is standing still. He vanishes as soon as you spot him, and shooting at him does nothing.
The Last One mission
The Last One is a Strangers and Freaks mission that only Franklin can play, and only once you reach 100% completion (see the GTA 5 100% completion checklist). Franklin meets a hunter in Raton Canyon who says he has been chasing a sasquatch for eight years.
- Investigate the scat site.
- Chase the creature through the woods until it reaches a dead end and cowers.
- Shoot it and listen to what it says, then pull off the head: it is a man in a costume.
- Choose whether to kill or spare him.
Three gold medal objectives exist: Wounded (shoot the Sasquatch three times before catching it), Hunter (kill four animals while chasing it) and Mr Green (go to the scat site on foot). The Sasquatch is the only person who can die in this mission.
Golden Peyote: play as the Sasquatch
In the enhanced version, finishing The Last One and collecting all 27 Peyote Plants makes golden Peyote plants appear. There is one per day of the week, only from 5:30 to 8:00 AM and only in snowy or foggy weather. Eat them in order from Sunday to Saturday to play as a Sasquatch, who drives any vehicle, uses dropped weapons and has increased strength. After the Saturday plant, growling sets off a howl; follow the trail of dead bodies to Thomson Scrapyard. Plant locations are in the Peyote Plants guide.

FAQ
Is Bigfoot real in GTA 5?
No. The creature in The Last One is a man in a Sasquatch costume. The only true Sasquatch experience is the Golden Peyote transformation.
How do I unlock The Last One?
Reach 100% completion. The mission can only be played by Franklin.
Why is Sasquatch only visible for a moment in Predator?
It is an easter egg. He stands in the corner of the thermal scope view, disappears once spotted and cannot be shot.
When do the golden Peyote plants appear?
Only after 100% completion with The Last One done and all 27 Peyote Plants eaten, between 5:30 and 8:00 AM in snowy or foggy weather, one location per weekday.
