There is no GTA 6 PC release date. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced a PC version. What they have said, though, tells us a lot about why PC players are waiting and what history suggests. Here is everything on the record, and why every “PC download” you see right now is a scam.
Key facts
- GTA 6 is only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
- Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said Rockstar always starts on console.
- Zelnick also said in September that PC is becoming more and more important to the company.
- Microsoft said GTA 6 will not be streaming to PC at launch.
- GTA V reached PC about 19 months after consoles, and Red Dead Redemption 2 about 13 months after.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not at launch, and nothing has been announced for later. Take-Two’s August earnings release lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. In the same table, NBA 2K27 is listed with PC, so the table does name PC when a game is coming to it.
PlayStation’s official offer terms describe the game as releasing on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and say it will not be available on PS4. The Xbox Store lists it as optimized for Xbox Series X|S. A GTA 6 PC release is simply not part of the current plan.
What Take-Two has said about a GTA 6 PC release
Zelnick has explained the console-first approach several times. In a May interview with Bloomberg, reported by Wccftech, he said Rockstar always starts on console and that the core audience has to be served first. He added that this is specific to Rockstar, pointing out that PC makes up 40% to 50% of sales on 2K titles such as NBA 2K. He also said the decision had nothing to do with Take-Two’s relationship with Sony.
At the annual shareholder meeting on September 17, he said PC is becoming more and more important for the company, which generally releases on platforms with a meaningful audience. That is not an announcement, but it is not a closed door either. No PC version was revealed at the meeting.
The numbers explain the caution. In its first fiscal quarter of 2027, Take-Two’s PC and other net bookings were $121.2 million, or 9% of the total, down from 11% a year earlier.
Can you stream GTA 6 to a PC?
No. In early October, The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive streaming rights that would let people play on PC at launch. Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball replied that there had been some misreporting, and that GTA VI will not be streaming exclusively or to PC. The Verge then corrected its story. We cover the rest of that episode in our Game Pass explainer later this week.
What history says about the wait
Rockstar has released its last two big games on console first:
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V | September 17, 2013 | April 14, 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 | November 5, 2019 | About 13 months |
That pattern is why so many people expect a GTA 6 PC release in 2027 or later. But it is a pattern, not a promise. Rockstar has not given any window, and claims of an “early 2027” PC port come from rumors, not from Rockstar or Take-Two.
Beware of fake GTA 6 PC downloads
Because there is no PC version, every “GTA 6 PC download”, “repack” or “ISO” is fake. TechRadar reported one such file on torrent sites that weighed 113 GB, was almost entirely empty data, and carried malware. Do not download anything claiming to be GTA 6 for PC, and do not enter your account details on sites promising early access.
The same goes for “official PC system requirements” pages. Rockstar has not published any, so those tables are invented.
