GTA Chinatown Wars time trial challenges are timed checkpoint runs spread around Liberty City, and every one needs at least a Bronze medal for 100% completion. You run the route in a given vehicle and must beat the target qualification time. Rewards are usually a few hundred dollars and depend on the event and the medal.

Circuit time trials
A circuit time trial has you racing around a Liberty City landmark on a fixed route. There are five places to start one, each with its own vehicle, and every event has several routes with a set number of laps and checkpoints. Start by getting into the vehicle at each point:
- Boulevard Boogie TT: the Sanchez south of Welham Parkway, Bohan
- Dukes Dust Up TT: the Sultan in the middle of Meadows Park, Dukes, next to the tennis court
- Go-Kar-TT: the Go Kart at Liberty Go-Karts, Firefly Island, Broker
- Patriot Park TT: the Patriot at the Middle Park Restaurant, Middle Park, Algonquin
- Wetscapade TT: the Wet Ski at Lancet, Algonquin, south of the Algonquin Bridge and opposite Colony Island

Collection time trials
In a collection run you pass a set number of checkpoints, shown as yellow orbs, sometimes across several districts. Each event has its own route and vehicle. To begin, enter the listed vehicle at the location shown.

Where the challenges fit in the 100% run
The GTA Chinatown Wars time trial challenges are only one part of the side missions. All 26 time trials (30 in the PSP version) count toward the 100% completion list. The street races are a separate group, covered in races, events and time trials, and the other timed or scored challenges are the rampages and the Gun Club courses.
